Chilean Wine
Chile, a long and exceptionally narrow country down the south west coast of South America has become one of the world's prime resources of keenly priced varietal wine. The Spanish conquistadores were responible for the introduction of the wine-producing vine, Vitis Vinifiera, to Chile in the mid 16th century, but France was to have a greater influence on shaping the chilean wine industry. The wines exported from Chile have been almost exclusively varietal with a preponderance of fruitily uncomplicated Cabernet Sauvignon.
